We enjoyed exploring the fortress and then headed back down the hill with enough time to explore the town. Just like in Rovinj, I delighted in wandering around the maze of narrow streets in Hvar ... much of which is on a hillside. And although not as colorful as Rovinj, the charm of this little town captivated me. I wish we could have stayed there longer!
We boarded a catamaran in Split in the late morning and cruised over to the island of Hvar.

Because the streets in Hvar are so narrow and irregular and the homes virtually unmarked, it was often difficult to know if I was turning onto another street or onto someone's property.

Goodbye Split
St. Stephen's Square, Hvar
We only had a few hours in Hvar town before we were to take our catamaran to Korcula. Tina spent a few minutes giving us ideas of what we could do. My mom, Kate, and I decided to take the hike up the hill to the fortress. Once there, we had a marvelous view of Hvar and its harbor.

I had just enough time to explore the harbor a little before boarding our Catamaran to go to Korcula. I hope that I someday can return to Hvar!
